Your health in context
I believe that your health is in service of your life: the life you really want to lead.
If we work together these are examples of the kinds of questions we might explore together:
How do you want to feel? How do you really want to feel? In your body? At work? In your relationships? With your family?
If you had the choice between energized, free, vibrant and content, on the one hand, and tired, heavy and grumpy on the other, which would you choose? Of course the former – so what’s the best way for us to get you there (and then keep you there)?
What is most important to you?
Does this suggestion [insert suggestion] work for you? Will it fit into your life? Is it realistic and achievable? How can we make it even easier?
My aim is to support you in finding out what is important to you (what you REALLY want and how you want to feel) and empower you to make decisions that make it easier for you to achieve whatever that is. Together we will create achievable, sustainable changes that fit into the reality of your life – changes that work for YOU – and that lead you in the direction of the healthy, happy, vibrant life that you want.
So you think you just want to loose 10 pounds?
You may think you want to loose [insert whatever the number is] pounds or you just want to normalise your cholesterol levels. But how you do that is just as important, if not more, than the number on the scale. Because HOW you do it will determine not only whether it stays off (most calorie controlled diets are shown not to be effective at keeping off weight in the longer term) but how you feel about yourself. How happy you are with your life. Which, may actually be even more important.
But I really do just want to loose 10 pounds and I don’t care how I do it
Great. Do you want to keep it off? Then let’s find a sustainable way of doing that: one which is nurturing and empowering; one which makes you feel really good about yourself, and supports and fits in to your life.
I want a quick fix. I’m up for the latest fad. I don’t care about how I feel in my body. I don’t care how long it lasts.
There are plenty of program(me)s and packages out there – quick fix diets that will help you loose weight in the short term and leave you to put it all back on once the famine is over. If that’s what you’re looking for, then I’m not the coach for you. A google search for diet may help you find what you want.
Good advice can be hard to follow
